Gorgeous and mesmerizing, I am absolutely fascinated by sea life.
Posted below is some amazing new youtube footage of a cirrate octopus. If you're a little sea-thingie squeamish, look away!
From the YouTube page: "Making a rare appearance just in time for Halloween, this ghostly-looking orange cirrate octopus was recently observed by MBARI's ROV Doc Ricketts swimming over the Taney Seamounts. These finned octopuses belong to an order of animals called Cirrata named for the presence of hair-like structures called 'cirri' which may aid these animals in the capture of food."
New Japanese trailer for Kirby's Epic Yarn! Okay, maybe I'm (more than) a few days behind in posting this, but my friend just sent me the link. EEEK! I've loved Kirby since Kirby's Dreamland came out in '92 (am I totally dating myself?), but this is just toooooo cute.
"Ok cat lovers! We have something for you... The latest Japanese cool electronic coin bank is the Itazura Coin Bank! Simply place a coin on top of the fish and hear a "Meow" sound. Watch the fuzzy cat inside the box open the lid slowly and grab the coin. So cute! Requires 2- AA batteries. By Takara/Tomy Japan." Available in brown and white.
Did any of you also used to own one of these? They used to sell Robie at Radio Shack back in the day and at least a couple of times during 80s my neighbors bought my family one for Christmas . Yes, more than once, but always 100% appreciated.. you can never have to many Robies! Sadly though, I have ZERO Robie's now, I wish I still did! ;_;
I can't believe this will be my last post of 2009. It seems like only yesterday everyone was fretting over Y2K... how fast time does fly!
I want to wish all of you a happy new year as we bid farewell to 2009. I'll leave you with this great Youtube video of user mitm2002's super 8 home videos between 1965-1979 set to The Zombies "This Will Be Our Year". I don't know this individual or their family personally, but its a really lovely collection of videos that feels very personal and somehow quite comforting.
DMGI Family has a Gumby playlist on their YouTube page which includes more than 50 Gumby videos! The playlist consists of mostly newer episodes of the show, but also has a few of the classic older episodes from the 50's (which are my favorite ones). To see the older episodes, head over to page 5 and 6 on the Gumby playlist. My favorite episode "Trapped on the Moon" is embedded below. I love the randomness of the original episodes, "They're only pretending to be stones, look!"
This has been out for a few years, but it's too cute not to share in case any of you haven't seen it yet. "An Eye for Annai" was created by Jon Klassen & Dan Rodrigues as a student animation project. The following was written about the film by Klassen on his website:
"This film was done by me and Dan Rodrigues in our third year at Sheridan College's Classical Animation Program. Everything is hand drawn and animated. We coloured the animation digitally, and the backgrounds are a mix of traditional and digital. I played the recorder for the soundtrack, and the jazz music near the middle is from Louis Armstrong's "Jeepers Creepers". The whole film comes in at just under 5 minutes long, and we're pretty darn proud of it. Tell your friends."
