Review & Giveaway : Peeled Snacks (Dried Fruit Snacks)

Peeled Snacks kindly sent over a great selection of their snacks for The Wide World Of blog to sample! The selection contained a bag each of: organic banana (Banan-a-peel), organic pineapple (pine-4-Pineapple), organic apple (Apple-2-the-core), organic mango (much-ado-about-Mango), organic apricot (Apricot-a-lot) and cherry (Cherry-go-round). Peeled Snacks ethically uses sustainable farms to source their ingredients, offering many organic varieties. Peeled Snacks also offers a recycling service for their bags which is quite nice!

From the Peeled Snacks bag:

"Our goal at Peeled Snacks is simple: to make you feel good about snacking. We strive to bring you the highest quality organic and natural ingredients from sustainable farms. Our snacks provide a great source of vitamins, minerals, and a full serving of fruit with no added sugar. Make snacking a satisfying part of life with an apeeling (sic) treat that you know is good for you..."

Each bag of Peeled Snacks contains only fruit with no added sugars, salt or preservatives. Weighing in at around 1.4 oz / 40g, each bag is enough for one or two helpings- great for sharing with a friend or family member (like your kids)! The packaging is colorful, cute and modern and the fruit itself looks clean and very pretty. I loved that the fruit pieces look almost rustic with their natural, rich earthy colors, a much welcome change from all those snacks that contain tons of artificial colorings!

The texture of Peeled Snacks was wonderful, far better than almost any other dried fruit I've had in the past. I found that these snacks were slightly more dense and chewy than most other dried fruits which is great! For example, I'm normally not a fan of dried pineapple and apple as the texture is often soft and spongy. The Apple-2-the-core and pine-4-Pineapple pieces in contrast were dense and chewy and also full of robust fruit flavor, not at all spongy. Another dried fruit I'm not normally a fan of is banana but the Banan-a-peel pieces were very chewy and slightly sticky and sweet, almost like candy (kids will love these)! Much-ado-about-Mango is another great selection. Most dried mango I've eaten in the past have had a soft, almost gelatinous texture, but mango Peeled Snacks were more akin to a chewy fruit leather. Overall, each Peeled Snacks flavor I sampled was wonderful. Each piece is packed with with flavor and everyone in my household is now a huge fan!

Peeled Snacks are now available at Starbucks throughout the US and Canada.
