Review & Giveaway : Dr. Lucy's Cookies (Gluten Free, Dairy Free / Vegan) - Chocolate Chip, Oatmeal, Cinnamon Thin, & Sugar Cookie (7/5)

Dr. Lucy's Oatmeal, Sugar Cookie, Cinnamon Thin & Chocolate Chip Cookies

Dr. Lucy's Cookies are a crispy, flavorful treat that has the HUGE added bonus of being gluten free, dairy free & egg free (vegan), kosher, cholesterol free, and trans fat free. How many other modern day snacks can boast those sorts of stats? Not many and not enough. Besides being awesome in that respect, these cookies also look amazing and taste great!

Each cookie is about 2 inches /5 cm in diameter with a very cute and dainty appearance. But don't let their looks fool you, these cookies have quite a bit of substance due to their ingredients (primarily certified gluten free oat flour, not wheat flour) and their crispiness (I would liken the crunch of these cookies to that of a light biscotti).

Dr. Lucy's offers four cookie flavors and to my surprise I liked them all equally. Normally I'd consider myself a bit of a chocolate chip cookie purist, but I would gladly purchase any of the four offered flavors.

Chocolate chip: The chocolate chips were soft and very 'melt in your mouth'. The meltiness of the chocolate provided an excellent contrast to the crunch of the cookies. The flavor of the chocolate chips was wonderful (not too bitter, not too sweet) and paired perfectly with the slightly oat-y flavor of the dough.

Oatmeal: I normally don't care too much for oatmeal cookies but I really enjoyed the flavor of these thanks to the crunch of the cookie. The oatmeal flavor and crunch is a really lovely combination. The texture of the cookie is lighter and more delicate than that of a traditional, heartier oatmeal cookie since the oats have a much smoother consistency in Dr. Lucy's cookies. These also don't contain any raisins which keeps the flavor of the cookie nice and clean. This is a really unique and wonderful oatmeal cookie!

Sugar Cookie: These adorable cookies are excellent for children and would also appease just about any sweet tooth! Most other sugar cookies I've tried have the problem of tasting slightly (but noticeably) raw-doughy, but these cookies definitely did not have that sort of sensation. The flavor of the dough in this cookie very tasty and clean. The flavor is complemented nicely by the pretty granules of sugar dusting the surface.

Cinnamon Thins: These are a little similar to the sugar cookies in taste, but the cinnamon provides a nice way to mellow the sweetness of the cookie. The flavor of the cinnamon also pairs really nicely with the crunch of the cookie. Like the sugar cookies, these also look very pretty with their dusting of cinnamon. While each flavor these cookies has a slight flavor of oats, that flavor was the least distinct in this cookie, probably due to the prevalence of the cinnamon flavor. Among the members of my household this particular cookie was very popular!

Dr. Lucy's Cookies have now become a household favorite. The flavor is great and the packaging is adorable. These would be a wonderful addition to a housewarming gift, to bring someone when you're visiting, or to add to a care package. Dr. Lucy's cookies are available in smaller grab & go packs from Starbucks, and larger boxes from Whole Foods, Kroger and other select retailers.
