Just a quick reminder that the CSN stores giveaway ends tonight (2/27) at 11:59 PM PST. All it takes is a quick comment to be placed into the drawing for a CSN item under $50 of your choice, so you should definitely give it a shot!
While the CSN giveaway is only open to readers residing in the US, my CoverYourHair giveaway which ends next weekend (3/5) is open worldwide, so keep those entries coming. Keep in mind that due to a rule change international readers now have 2 extra days to enter that particular giveaway (until 3/7).
I also just wanted to give a huuuuge thank you to everyone who has taken the time to enter the giveaways, leave a comment, or just to stop by and visit. I really wish you could all win each and every giveaway, but alas.... if you don't win this time stay tuned because I will have more, more, more and more giveaways coming soon!
Good luck!

Olympic mascot plushes & other collectibles
Quatchi, Miga, MukMuk and Sumi are this winter's Olympic mascots and the whole bunch is just cute, cute, cute *pinches cheeks*. These 4 characters are the brain child of Meomi (which consists of 2 artists based in LA and Vancouver) who are no stranger to teh cuteness.
The official webstore for the Olympics has a ton of goodies in stock featuring the mascots, but it appears that quit a few of the items are already out of stock (and I have no idea if any of the items will be restocked). So if anything catches your eye, be sure to act quickly!
Coin Purse, $18
Miga 9.5" plush, $25
Sumi 10.5" plush, $25
MukMuk, 8.5" plush, $25
Quatchi Shirt, $23

Anna Chambers' limited edition apple plushes
These adooooooorable plush apples by Anna Chambers were available starting early last year but I never had the chance to post them here. I was recently browsing some webstores and was shocked to see that a few places still have these available. Considering how limited (Happy Red :450 pieces, Happy Green: 200 pieces, Sad Red: 200 pieces, Sad Green: 150 pieces) and cute they are that was a huge surprise!
Here's a list of some of the stores that still carry the apple plushies:
Here's a list of some of the stores that still carry the apple plushies:
- Shoprockcandy : all varieties available, $14.95 each
- Gallery Nucleus : sad red only, $14.95 each
- My Plastic Heart : sad red only, $14.99 each

Jonathan Adler Zodiac Pillows
My favorite Jonathan Adler items are probably the somewhat kitschy nod to the 60s and 70s via needlepoint accessory pouches and pillows. The newest addition to the pillow line are the zodiac pillows pictured above, $98 each. I love the artwork on these (kind of wishing I was a Pisces right now), but I'm not sure I'd actually want to display a zodiac pillow in my house. What do you think? Cute or not?

Today's lunch : spaghetti and veggies with homemade pasta sauce
This is isn't a food blog (nor am I a "foodie") but I noticed that my very rudimentary food posts seem to get a fair number of views so I decided that I should perhaps be a little more diligent in sharing my meager (sometimes pathetic) attempts at cooking. Oh yes, and I'll even post the inevitable disasters... I can't wait!
On today's menu: spaghetti and steamed veggies.. yum!
This was actually pretty good even though I used *gasp* canned tomatoes. I used one large can of whole peeled tomatoes which I "chopped" very slightly in my blender. I then poured that over 1 large chopped onion and about 4 cloves of crushed garlic that I had browned with oil in a large pot. Also added were a nice healthy sprinkle of thyme (about 1 tablespoon), a dash of olive oil, a few pinches of salt and sugar to taste and about 3/4 cup of water. This was cooked on medium for about 2 hours, stirring occasionally. I opened the lid every once in awhile to let the extra water evaporate off.
Somewhere along the line I added a huge heap of fresh chopped parsley which subsequently turned brown. In retrospect I'm not even sure adding the parsley that early even helped with the flavor so I added some more fresh parsley to the top of the pasta once it was cooked. I also added about 3/4 cup of peas about half an hour before the pasta was done cooking.
That yellow-orange sprinkle on the top? That's nutritional yeast. It's a somewhat controversial (I won't really get into that here) yeast product that's often used as a cheese substitute in vegan cooking. I've sometimes likened the taste to a wet dog which is probably the least appetizing (almost vomit inducing?) description EVER. I mean, it's slightly accurate, but the overall taste is more or less slightly nutty, slightly bitter and slightly cheesy. Why that equates to wet dog in my mind I'm not really sure, but I won't dwell on it!
I usually use whole wheat pasta but I was out (booo!). Today's veggies were some organic steamed broccoli and Brussels sprouts covered with a somewhat gross looking slathering of Vegenaise.
CoverYourHair.com review + $25 hair accessory giveaway (3/5)
I was recently contacted by CoverYourHair.com and was allowed to try out one of their products as well as share some goodies with my readers (but more about that later)! I picked out the nice slouchy beige Winter Elegant Crochet Beret. Cute, no?
The product arrived super quick, was well packed, and I couldn't be happier with how helpful Linda over at CoverYourHair.com was. The beret is super soft, has a nice, clean knit and theeee peeeerfect amount of slouch. The band on the beret is great too, very stretchy but fits on the head comfortably without being either too loose or too snug. This definitely will be a staple accessory in my wardrobe through the rest of the winter! At $16.99 the beret is very reasonably priced and looks very similar what you would expect from a designer brand. Just check out the gorgeous crocheting:
The slouchy beret style is a favorite among many including Hilary Duff, Rachel Bilson, Lindsay Lohan and Miley Cyrus (items shown on these celebrities are not from CoverYourHair).
Coveryourhair.com also carries a nice variety of headbands, including those of the studded variety- a huge favorite among established and budding fashionistas alike. This pyramid spike studded metallic headband and velvet stone studded headband are available for $4.99 each.
These look similar to the style of headbands Lauren Conrad and Maria Menounos are wearing here (unknown brands, Lauren and Maria not pictured in CoverYourHair accessories):
I could go on and on about the great selection of hair accessories on CoverYourHair.com, but I'd like you to see/experience it for yourself...
CoverYourHair.com was generous enough to offer one of my readers a free $25 box of surprise Hair Accessories!

Paul Smith ceramic rabbits are back!
Awhile back I made reference to Paul Smith's ceramic bunnies which I was lamenting never picking up... well, turns out a new batch are finally available. The new batch-o-bunnies comes in metallic purple, red, and gold and each retails for £55.00. I don't think I like these as much as the matte versions but I'm dying for a purple one!
My favorite T-shirt : Artevist's "Ride A Bike For Clean Air"
Over the past few months my favorite shirt has become Artevist's "Ride a Bike for Clean Air" T-shirt by Sachi. I looove the fun, unique graphic and the cotton is super, super soft. I was recently browsing the Artevist website and saw that this particular T-shirt (as well as several others) is on sale for 50% off! That means this $30 shirt is now only $15... quite a steal considering the shirt is 100% organic cotton, sweatshop free (made in the USA), limited edition, and 1% of every sale is dontated to to global, nonprofit organizations involved in environmental causes (among other things). Best of all, this is the softest, most comfortable shirt I have ever owned.
