Lucy Roberts : Bespoke Mutant Animals on Etsy

No, you are not seeing double!

Two headedness might be an acquired cuteness but if a bunny can be super cute, then perhaps a two headed one can be twice as cute? Okay, maybe a stretch, but if you're looking for a unique gift item LucyRoberts on Etsy creates some wonderful plushes that mass market production dare not touch (which is why I love them so). Each plush is salvaged from clean, good quality thrift store & garage sale finds and brought to life Frankenstein's monster style. Well, maybe they aren't as ugly as Frankenstein's monster and aren't made out of body parts, but perhaps they too may be slightly misunderstood!

Take a look at some of the other great items from Lucy's shop:

Two-Headed Cardinal
Not all of the creations in the shop are conjoined, in fact, most are fun hybridizations of various animals, such as the ever illusive:

Lioncub Duckling

Kitty Kiwi

I recently purchased the two headed bunny pictured at the top of this post from Lucy's Etsy store and it is undoubtedly one of the coolest things that I own. The piece is stitched together cleanly and very securely, it looks great! This will certainly make a great conversation piece, as would be any item from the shop!

Sweetdolls on Etsy + Giveaway (Win your very own Sweet Chick Sweet doll)

I don't think there is anymore appropriately named product than Dawn's "Sweetdolls" which are the epitome of sweetness! Dawn is a Florida native who hand knits one of a kind dolls and rattles. As Dawn puts it, "all my dolls are made with love" and it's easy to see the care and fine attention to detail in pieces like the "Mary had a little lamb" duo above.

All Sweetdoll have an appealing color scheme and look perfectly crafted. Each doll also seems to have a unique feature: a precious little purse, a fun hat, funky patterned clothing. My favorite feature? The cute hairstyles! I love the sweet little bobs and buns the dolls have... adorableness!

Some of my favorite Sweet dolls are pictured below:

This fun, fashionable trio reminds me of me and my friends.
Ohhh, I am totally Miranda (but I'm not as cute)!

Little bear hat! Pink little bear hat... pink little bear hat with little pink ears...
pink little bear hat with little pink ears and pink hair! The cuteness just goes on and on forever....

Quite possibly my favorite Sweet doll evaaar.
Little hair buns with ribbons and an orange bob- awwwwww!

CUPCAKE HAT and a pink frilly dress, need I say more?
Oh yes, I do, there also a cherry on top! CUPCAKE HAAAAT :D

Love the sweet face on this teddy bear, made even cuter with a little froggy hood.
The brown and green are a beautiful combo and awwz, he even has a little belly. :)

I love the fun color scheme and pattern on the body of this bear,
and his face looks so innocent! And hes purple... how cute is that?

Sleepy puppies... on rattles! Who doesn't love puppies (and sleepy ones at that)?!
This would make an amazing baby shower gift!

Naturaleza Organic Jewelry + Earring Giveaway (Win A Pair Of Sterling Silver + Seed Earrings)

Moran Fuerte Ring - recycled sterling and organic wood band

From the very first time I browsed the naturalezanica shop on etsy I immediately fell in love their jewelry. The simple elegance of the designs combined with the beautiful hues and patterns of nature are a perfect and beautiful pairing. I don't really ever purchase mass produced jewelry because most conventional, mass marketed pieces look either too gaudy, too cheap or (to be blunt) too ugly. On the opposite end of the spectrum are the independently created and designed pieces created by Naturaleza Organic Jewelry which are absolutely stunning!

Naturaleza Organic Jewelry (naturalezanica on ebay) is completely designed and handmade by Kentucky residents, Amy and Marlon Obando Solano. Marlon grew up in rural Nicaragua where he learned to work with and create using natural forest materials. Now he and Amy combine ancestral Nicaraguan adornment techniques with modern design elements to make beautiful, unique pieces of jewelry. Each piece the duo creates is made of sustainable, hand collected raw materials such as seeds, nuts and wood along with 100% recycled sterling silver. Naturaleza Organic Jewelry also does not use varnish or dye on their pieces, instead polishing them with organic sesame oil, allowing the vibrant colors and patterns of nature to shine through.

Naturaleza Organic Jewelry would make a wonderful anniversary or birthday gift, the perfect wedding or engagement bands, or just something to add to your personal collection. Some of my favorite pieces from Marlon & Amy's portfolio (along with the rings pictured above) can be seen below:

Asi Nacascolo - sustainable nacascolo wood with recycled sterling silver inlay

Turquoise Lados Rings - Custom designed ring set with turquoise inlay and unity symbol.

Lados Lapis Azul and Coyol Ring - Coyol seed, lapiz azul and recycled sterling.

Naciendo - handcarved nacascolo necklace with recycled sterling leaf inlay

Nambaro Circle Earrings - sustainable cocobolo wood earrings

PalmPuppy on Etsy

There are few things more adorable than puppies (puppiiies!!!) and PalmPuppy's plush pups are just as cute as the real thing (but much easier to take care of)! Each puppy is handmade and, from the looks of it, made with a lot of care and fine attention to detail. I love how much personality each dog has, these are definitely on my thingsthataresupercuteandiwant list for 2010!

Tapirgirl on Etsy

Sasha aka Tapirgirl knits some of my favorite handmade, made to order amigurumi (stuffed knit dolls). While bunnies and teddy bears seem to be etsy favorites, Sasha's tapirs are a unique and welcome break with the norm. They are also seriously adorable!

The dolls come in three varieties (Babirusa, Malayan and Baby Malayan) and a portion of the each sale goes toward tapir preservation. From Tapirgirl's etsy site:

"20% of the proceeds from the sale of this tapir will go to the Tapir Preservation Fund, which helps to preserve tapirs and their habitats."

Yes!

Please visit Tapirgirl's pages for more info or to purchase your very own tapir:

cute DIY found object project by APAK : Happy Hermits (Ride the Lucky White Bunny)

Happy Hermits (Ride the Lucky White Bunny) is the latest original available on APAK's Etsy store. This piece is on sale for $200 and combines a found object with original sculpting. The following is the description of the object from APAK's Etsy page:

The bunny is a found object and custom painted and fixed. The material is ceramic cast and the inside is hollow. The hermits are handmade by APAK and made of paper clay. The whole sculpture is varnished.

Really adorable! Reminds me a bit of the old Paul Smith ceramic bunnies that I used to be obsessed with. Wish I would have picked one up while I had the chance, maybe even to DIY myself.
